Provenance: private collection, Berlin. Confirmed as an authentic autograph work on the basis of the original by Dr Ruth Baljöhr, Berlin, author of the catalogue raisonné on Spillenberger. Spillenberger is among the most important painters of the 17th century within the German-speaking world. After a long stay in Italy, he settled in Vienna where he became an Imperial court painter.
